The school year is drawing to a close. It is time, once again to reminisce and recall the highlights of the past year.
The month of September featured the Teachers’ Day celebration, set on September 9th, one day before the official Macau Teachers’ Day. Performers spiced up the morning celebration with songs and dances dedicated to their teachers. The teachers were then given a candle in appreciation for all their efforts in the past years. It also symbolized their patience and commitment in the year ahead.
October, as always, focused on the School Feast Day Celebrations and activities. Apart from the Thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration held on the 4th, the Students’ Association also organized a Fund-raising Fun Fair which took place on the afternoon of Sunday, the 3rd. To add to the funds raised at the Fun Fair, a Fund-raising Fun Walk was held on the 30th of September. Of course, all proceeds from both the Fun Fair and the Fun Walk were donated to charity through the Macau Caritas Foundation.
November was headlined by the annual school trips and picnics, held on the Thursday and Friday before the Grand Prix weekend. Students were taken out in groups, arranged according to level. The Primary 1 to 5 students were taken to the Seak Pai Van Park while the P6 and Secondary students went to China. All trips proved to be very enjoyable and worthwhile.
Activities in the month of December centred on the Christmas season with the various classes competing in the annual Carol Singing Competition. A finalist was chosen from each level and all the finalists performed during the Christmas Celebration held on December 18th.
These are the highlights of the first half of scholastic year 2010-2011.
