It was a cold, blustery December day but twenty-five lucky students braved the biting wind to make the most of their once-in-a-lifetime chance to visit the Orbis Flying Hospital, berthed at a section of the Macau International Airport.
The eager students, accompanied by four teachers, were taken through an educational tour of the hospital on wings. They marveled at the latest medical technology installed in the different sections of the plane, and welcomed the chance to manipulate the sometimes complex gadgets.
The doctors on board welcomed the group graciously and patiently explained how the hospital managed to treat patients from all over the world. Visiting the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital was truly an eye-opener, so to speak, because the mission and dedication of the corps of forty-odd voluntary doctors and medical staff was truly inspiring!
Many of the students left with enlightened minds and ambitions that were redirected towards more humanitarian causes.
