Rosians of all ages, past and present, gathered for a special sit-down dinner at the Restaurante Federal, organized by the SRL Alumnae Association, to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Santa Rosa de Lima, English Secondary. Attendees included Bishop Jose Lai, Bishop of Macau, Mr Sou Chio Fai, Director of the Education Department of Macau, the FMM sisters and a gathering of friends from all walks of life.
The evening began with the singing of the School Song. The Principal, Sr. Judith Alice Yuen, delivered the welcoming address, which was followed by the blessing from the Bishop and a speech from Dr. Sou Chio Fai. The distinguished guests were invited on stage for the cake-cutting ceremony. Officers of the Alumnae Association joined the VIPs on stage and revved up the event with a jolly rendition of Those Were the Days, as they toasted one another. After that, everyone was treated to an entertainment package that included a ballet, and a series of songs from past and present students, as well as a performance from the local band OnceTeenOnes.
All attendees were also given a souvenir keychain which had been specially designed to show a student in the SRL uniform, and a commemorative bag. The evening was truly a memorable one with everyone grateful for the chance to see long lost friends and batch-mates, and eager to grab a pen and exchange contact details and recent news.Teachers and staff members scrounged through their brain as they were approached by past students who challenged them to remember their names. Cameras clicked in all directions as Rosians mixed and mingled. The celebration wound up at about 10:00 in the evening and everyone departed wishing that they didn't have to wait another five years for a gathering as meaningful as this one had been.
