The annual SRL Sports Days were held on the 11th and 12th of March, 2010.On Thursday, the 11th, the Primary classes had their Sports Day in the school playground.Their day began with the opening prayer, followed by a delightful dance performance from selected Primary 1 students which ushered in the level dance competition of the Primary 1 to 6 levels. The gold medal inter-class matches then commenced while the Primary 1 and 2 classes had their games in the hall.
Everyone was highly energized and so enthusiastic. At about 11:40, some of the awards were given out but, owing to the lack of time, the rest of the awards would have to wait till the following Monday. The Secondary Sports Day was held on Friday, the 12th at the Polytechnic Stadium. After the opening prayer and the school song, representatives of the officials and athletes came forward to lead the oaths. Sister Judith then gave the opening remarks and reminded everyone about the true purpose of the sports day. The traditional cheering competition of the different levels immediately followed and everyone was enthralled by how much more creative, entertaining and unique each performance had been.
The rest of the day was devoted to gold medal inter-class matches between various classes interspersed with awarding ceremonies. In the afternoon, the students were treated to friendly matches with the teachers which both players and spectators enjoyed very much. The day ended at 5:00 with everyone in higher than high spirits. A big THANK YOU goes out to the Executives of the Co-Curricular Activities Committee of the Students' Association for having given up much of their free time to run the Sports events beginning in early October.
