The 3rd Macau Model United Nations Conference

Instead of relaxing during the August summer holiday, our students dedicated their time to expanding their knowledge and skills through active participation in the 3rd Macau Model United Nations Conference. This event, a collaboration between the Macau Model United Nations Promotion Association, the University of Saint Joseph's Faculty of Health Sciences, and the Macau Observatory for Social Development at the University of Saint Joseph, brought together 150 students from 30 schools across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The Model United Nations conference has become a prominent platform for students to actively engage in international affairs and enhance their critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities. It undoubtedly prepares them to be global citizens. Their active participation is a testament to their eagerness to learn and grow.

The 3rd Macau Model, United Nations Conference, simulated the proceedings of the United Nations to address a complex global challenge. 14 students participated in the English committee sessions, focusing on promoting mental health and improving access to care while emphasising the ongoing support needed from the international community to overcome these challenges. Our students dedicated countless hours to researching their assigned countries, understanding international policies, and familiarising themselves with the rules of procedure. Although the sessions were intense, they demonstrated outstanding analytical thinking and persuasive communication skills, effectively advocating for the interests of their assigned countries.

Incredible opportunities were provided for our students, allowing them to participate in various academic seminars by renowned academicians covering topics such as education, history, and adolescent development. The event enabled our students to expand their understanding, develop an international perspective, and equip them to be global citizens.

We are thrilled to celebrate the remarkable experiences and achievements of our students who participated in this MUN conference. Their outstanding performance and global mindset, which led to numerous awards and recognitions, are truly inspiring and a source of pride for our school community. Let's celebrate their success!

During the Conference, Agnes Lei (F6AC2), representing New Zealand, was awarded Best Diplomacy. The honour was granted based on her positive attitude in discussions and her exemplary demonstration of leadership skills.

Kitty Cheong (F6A/C2), representing the Republic of Peru, received the award for Outstanding Delegate. She was recognized for her active participation throughout the sessions, her substantial understanding of Peru's position, and her effective collaboration with other delegates.
