Primary 6 Collaborative STEM Project

Primary 6 students have launched a collaborative STEM project this year, centered on building bridge models. This initiative, involving both the English and General Studies departments, has provided students with a unique opportunity to explore why humans build bridges and tunnels.

After reading passages about the importance of bridges and tunnels in their English lessons, students have delved into engineering principles during General Studies lessons to construct their bridges. They also need to apply their language skills to create scripts to present their ideas effectively. This project encourages students to enhance their communication skills, fostering teamwork and creativity throughout the process.

In addition to hands-on design and construction, students have been documenting their projects, linking physics concepts to their designs. Finally, they will test their bridges to see their optimal loading capacity, solidifying the connection between STEM education and effective communication skills. This engaging project highlights the importance of integrating English language elements into STEM education, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience for our students.
