Our students from the senior secondary Art and Commerce stream participated in the 9th Consumer Study Award, organised by the Macao SAR Government Consumer Council. The programme aims to encourage teenagers' participation in social affairs, establish rational consumption values, and cultivate a sense of civic responsibility.
This experience provided a valuable opportunity for students to apply their knowledge of economics and business in practice while examining consumer behaviour in Macao. Their intense and commendable curiosity about various social and economic affairs within our community was inspiring, and they were determined to deepen their understanding of the field. They spent months researching, and each team received over a hundred responses. Over 200 teams participated in this programme, and two teams from our school were awarded.
We are proud to announce that Rachel Chan (F5AC2), Nichole Cheong (F5AC2) and Mat Wong (F5AC2) received the Merit Award for their investigation into the evolution of spending behaviour and the effectiveness of the 'Plastic Bag Charge' policy following its implementation in Macao three years ago.
Dora Lo (F6AC1), Kitty Cheang (F6AC2), Kionna Ho (F6AC2), Agnes Lei (F6AC2), Salina Un (F6AC2) and Queenie Yung (F6AC2) received the Best Topic Award. They explored the reasons for the increasing number of people spending in Mainland China and considered effective strategies to attract consumers to spend locally.
This recognition is a testament to their hard work and dedication to the programme. Congratulation!
