Ten students from Primary 5 and Primary 6 won honours for SRL when they bested 10 other schools in the recently concluded Books Alive Drama Competition. The competition, being the first of its kind in Macau, aimed to inspire students and teachers alike to encourage reading among the youth by bringing a favourite story to life through drama.

The group had chosen the story The Velveteen Rabbit and had practiced for a little over two weeks. Though nervous at the competition, which was held on Saturday, the 20th of May, 2006, the girls were more than pleased when their names were called out to receive the much coveted FIRST PRIZE at the awarding ceremony the following day. Along with a certificate, each student received a MOP1000 book coupon. The school was also awarded a MOP10,000 book coupon. It was a truly memorable experience and, despite all the giggling that went on during the practices, the students acknowledged that it had been a truly fun-filled learning experience.
