In 1903, FMM Sisters were sent to Macao and started to get involved in the Portuguese school.

In 1932, the FMM congregation answered the need to educate people through the medium of English. Their main objectives were to prepare the young for life especially the changing needs of the times; to give an all-rounded education and target the students' moral and spiritual needs.

Most of all, SRL's main apostolate is to evangelize guided by the rules and virtues of St. Francis of Assisi.
